Lunch in March

Lunchtimes are great, especially this time of year.

Some great produce is sprouting, and we’re relishing using it. Here’s our March Lunch Menu, just for you..

2 courses £13.50; 3 courses £15.50

First course

Soup: Today’s choice – ask the staff (v)

Blue cheese: from Sedgefield in a tart with house salad (v)

Pressed pork: Bramley apples & toast

Curried beets: spiced peas & potato on a warm flatbread (v)

Chilli squid: with scallions & fennel


Second course

Shin beef: slow-braised with carrot mash (Bill’s hint: order some wilted greens)

Welsh Rarebit: Carol Peacock’s cheese, mushrooms & Worcester sauce (v)

Fishcake: smoked fish, white wine sauce & wilted greens (Bill’s hint: add a house salad)

Mussels:  with garlic & herb cream (Bill’s hint: lovely with some salted warm bread)

Bangers & mash: pork and leek sausage, mashed potato & gravy
