High Summer menu

It’s been a lovely 3 weeks of weather. Sunshine every day. That’s given us the chance to get out and about, visiting suppliers old and new and the chance to plan our lovely new menu.

This menu starts Friday 8th August and runs to early October, just in time for our Autumn menu.

Without further ado!

FIRST COURSE

Duck slow-cooked leg, potted with sourdough and prune puree £6.20

Mackerel mackerel fillet & gooseberry chutney on artisan toast £5.80

Musselssoup style with deep fried mussels & herb batter £6.00

Pork – belly and rib, with beetroot & apple £5.50

Soup French onions, slow-cooked with a cheesy crouton £4.50 (v)

King scallops roast cauliflower & black pudding fritter £9.00

Grilled lettuce hearts – roast vine tomato, garlic & shallot dressing £5.50 (v)

Cured ham Cumbrian ham, poached duck egg & chicory £6.00

SECOND COURSE

MEAT

Sirloin steak – with fat chips, tomato & mushrooms £21.50

Surf and turf – Rump steak, langoustines, chips £20.00

Duck breast – baby leeks, blackberries & squash £16.50

Lamb – breast, sweetbread & salt baked carrot £16.00

Pork – bone-in loin chop, Duchess potato, caramelized apple, cider & baby onion sauce £16.00

Rabbit – rolled saddle & slow-cooked leg with Doreen’s black pudding & root veg mash £15.80

FISH

Lemon sole – whole sole, potato aioli, samphire & brown shrimp £17.50

Turbot cooked in red wine, roasted beets celeriac, sliced potatoes & onions £16.00

Seafood plate deep fried mackerel, breaded scampi, fat chips, tartar relish & home-made ketchup £15.80

VEGETARIAN

Sedgefield Camembert grill – thyme studded with fat chips £14.50 (V)

PUDDINGS

Chocolate – a white and dark mousse with a cherry biscuit £5.00

Sticky toffee pudding – with butterscotch sauce & vanilla ice £6.90

Cheeseboard – a selection of British cheeses with smoked quince jelly £7.00

Summer berry terrine – pressed fruits with a pistachio cream £5.50
